Coaching Staff

 

 

Coach Steve Westmoreland is in his third year as Parkview�s Varsity Softball Coach.  He is a graduate of LaGrange High School and went on to play baseball at Central Alabama Community College and the University of West Georgia.

He began his teaching and coaching career at Elbert County High School in Elberton, Ga. in 2001-2002, becoming Head Baseball coach in 2002-2003 and Head Softball Coach in 2003-2004.  While at Elbert, he led the Lady Devil softball team to a 3rd place finish in the 2003 AAA State Tournament in Columbus and the baseball team to three consecutive playoff appearances.

Steve teaches World History at Parkview High School.  He also coaches varsity and junior varsity baseball.

Coach Westmoreland is married to Amber Westmoreland of Snellville.  They are the proud parents of Hailey Anne Westmoreland, born Feb 14, 2oo7

 

 

Coach Joey Farah is in his first year as the Varsity Assistant Softball Coach.  He is a graduate of Central Gwinnett High School and went on to play  baseball and tennis at Brewton Parker College.  He graduated from Georgia Southern and then went on to get his MBA from Columbia Southern University.  He is currently pursuing his Specialist in Leadership and Administration

He began is coaching career at Metter High School in which he was the Head Softball Coach.  While there, he led the Tigers to their first region championship.  After leaving Metter High School, he ended up at Statesboro High School as the Assistant Varsity Softball Coach.  Coach Farah also was the Head Coach for the Southern Flames and led them to the Southeast ISA Championship.

Joey teaches EBD/SC Special Ed. at Parkview HS and helps with the the 9th Grade Baseball Team.

Joey is married to Amy Winter of Snellville and currently reside in Flowery Branch, GA

 

 

Coach Thornton started his fast-pitch coaching career in 1993, In six summer seasons, Thornton coached teams finished in the championship round 24 times with tournament wins in 11 District , Regional, and State Championships. The remaining 13 finishes were NSA and ASA Tennessee State Runner-ups.

 

In 1999, Coach Thornton accepted a coaching position at Franklin High School located in Franklin , Tennessee . After two winning seasons, the 2001 Lady Rebels Softball team led by Coach Thornton and Coach Pantall, coached the Rebels to a District TSSAA Championship Runner-up and finished 2

in the TSSAA Regional Qualifier for the first time since 1987.

 

Since moving to Atlanta in 2003, Coach Thornton has helped coach tournament teams including Lilburn Elite and Georgia Inferno.   

 

 

 

Matthew Moon graduated from Dacula High School in 1998 where he played football. He received his BSED in math education in 2004 from the University of Georgia. He began his teaching career in 2004 at Parkview High School.  He is starting his 5th year in the math department here and is currently teaching Integrated Algebra I and CP Algebra II.  

Coach Moon has been the JV Boys Golf Coach the past two years and will begin his 3rd year with the boys golf team this spring. He will also serve as the JV Girls golf coach this year, his first year in that capacity. This will be his first year coaching softball at the high school level.
